The Tendrils of Memory

The Tendrils of Memory

By Tintajemari

the tendrils of memory punish me so harshly,
the tightness in my chest feels like being stabbed in the heart,
I burst into sobs
breaking the silence of regret,
while I know that you will not be arriving
to wipe away my tears,
the memory now cuts me to the core, my love

We Met

We Met

By Tintajemari

We met,
not at the right time,
I think,
or perhaps the universe is trying
to say that love has never really
ever existed?
for us

UoM Podcast: Media and Elections

The latest from the UoM’s “Talking Indonesia” podcast.

The Indonesian media is heavily politicised. Many TV stations are owned by political power brokers or party leaders. During elections, these ownership structures place significant restrictions on the independence of journalists and media freedom more broadly. But how exactly do media bosses interfere in the daily lives of Indonesian journalists? What forms of intimidation do journalists face? And what are the implications of Jokowi’s victory for the Indonesian media?

Listen here Talking Indonesia: the media and elections.

Asumsi Podcast: Indonesian Bombing Update

The bombing of Medan Police Headquarters on Wednesday 13 November 2019 added again to the list of terrorist acts in Indonesia. In this episode, we speak to Mr. Ridlwan Habib, terrorism expert at the University of Indonesia and Executive Director of The Intelligence Institute. We fully open up the issue of terrorism and the government’s efforts to eradicate it. Listen to the full discussion at Asumsi Bersuara with host Rayestu!

The Next Sunset

The Next Sunset

By Tintajemari

i console my sadness at sunset that is so fleeting
when night falls let my longing stay strong
till the next sunset when our meeting begets gazes
And that if God still takes pity
and eases my worry that’s reached the point of exhaustion.
